A welcome companion to the textbook, the 2-hour video provides a virtual tutor who signs and simultaneously speaks the 600 sentences. The student signs along with her and may pause and repeat the sentences at will. The sound may be turned off during the signing and for practice in understanding the visual message. Included are self-check segments, the manual alphabet and a sign-interpreted song. Those who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing may use the closed captioning. Choose DVD or VHS format—the video is identical. (ISBN 0-9632691-0-0)

Sign Language Made Simple, 2nd Edition
"Unlike a reference book presenting signs in isolation, the 30 lessons in this book present 1,500 ASL signs in the context of 600 English sentences, with signs clearly illustrated above their English equivalents. Beginning with simple sentences in lesson one ("Hello. How are you?"), each of the succeeding twenty-nine lessons reviews previous signs and adds new signs. Ongoing repetition and review fosters rapid acquisition of sign vocabulary, while learning in sentences promotes signing fluency. The transition from English to signing becomes relatively simple. Suitable for youth and adults. (ISBN 0-88243-500-0) |
